The installed infrastructure will also be used to develop future-oriented services for servicing, maintaining and repairing wind turbines and components. Due to the early establishment of leading wind power companies, the port town of Egersund is transforming into the wind capital of Norway and the hub of renewable energies with a very differentiated service portfolio.
Egersund has a diversification strategy to tap into both the onshore and offshore wind sector, in a timely manner. To enable the full employment potential offered by the town's strategy, a qualification campaign is being launched to ensure the development of urgently needed wind energy skills.
The hub concept is a response to current and future challenges in the wind industry’s qualification sector. The initiators expect extensive synergies for the location arising from a collaborative bundling of resources that meets the growing complexity of the qualification task. In addition to the already developed range of modules, the hub will also offer space for developing new educational innovations. To this end, the initiators are also making the installed infrastructure available to other market participants and research facilities as a development platform.
